Night falls, you are at treetop level, there is no disturbing light far and wide and the stars twinkle above you. We would like to make this cosmic experience possible for you as part of a guided star hike. In July and August, stargazers<\/strong> particularly enjoy gazing at the night sky. Because in no other period are so many shooting stars<\/strong> to be observed in the firmament. The reason for this is the so-called Perseids. A meteor stream that crosses the Earth’s orbit every year and brings with it a small firework display. The Perseids (also known as the Tears of St. Lawrence) appear from mid-July to the end of August. They reach their maximum activity during the so-called Perseid Nights from August 10 to 14. <\/p>\n\n

We invite you to a guided star hike<\/strong> as part of our stargazing nights <\/strong>! These take place on Tuesday, August 12 and Wednesday, August 13 <\/strong> each from 9:30 pm to 11:45 pm<\/strong>. They are conducted by two members of the “Sternwarte Oberallg\u00e4u e.V.<\/a>“.<\/strong> The association and cooperation partner of Waldwelt will receive a generous donation for its commitment to the two events. <\/p>\n\n

The stargazing club members<\/strong> will inform you about the formation and special features of meteor streams<\/strong>, give you an overview of the visible constellations<\/strong> and explain how to orientate yourself in the night sky. During the star walk<\/strong>, all guests should stay together in the group, as the tour takes place without a microphone. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. <\/p>\n\n

The Waldwelt Allg\u00e4u is the ideal location for the shooting star nights for several reasons: firstly, the elevated location is an advantage, and secondly, the fact that there are hardly any disturbing light sources in the immediate vicinity. If there are, they are very well shielded by the trees around the treetop path. <\/p>\n\n
