The region
Would you like to discover the area around the treetop walk and the Waldwelt Skywalk Allgäu? Let’s go! Breathtaking nature, impressive mountains, gentle valleys, picturesque places: The region can hardly be described in words. Here are the most important things.
Leisure time paradise Scheidegg
The market town of Scheidegg is one of the most popular excursion destinations in the West Allgäu and has around 4,000 inhabitants. Tourism and agriculture are part of the lifestyle here. The air quality is excellent and there is a wide range of leisure activities on offer.
In spring, summer and autumn, the Allgäu attracts hikers, cyclists and mountain bikers who want to actively experience nature. The hiking and cycling trails offer numerous opportunities to discover excursion destinations for families, real sights and beautiful places in the Allgäu.
Activities and adventures also attract guests to the Allgäu in winter. The region around Scheidegg is a paradise for winter hikers and cross-country skiers. With an altitude of around 1,000 meters, the area is quite snow-sure. Around 70 kilometers of trails run through the West Allgäu, including the 50-kilometer-long “Superloipe” from Waldsee to Alpsee. There are ski lifts for all levels in the surrounding area. Some of the slopes are steep, others are particularly suitable for families and children.
One of the sights: the Scheidegg waterfalls. According to the quality lable, they are among Bavaria’s most beautiful geotopes and plunge around 20 meters over two mighty rock steps. The Scheidegg reptile zoo is also well worth a visit. Visitors can admire numerous animals and camouflage artists in lifelike terrariums.
By the way: Scheidegg is located in one of the sunniest areas in Germany. This is due to Scheidegg’s location on a high plateau. The market town describes itself as the “sun terrace above Lake Constance”. It is known for its excellent air quality and is considered a climatic health resort.
Recreation in the Allgäu and on Lake Constance
What else does Scheidegg have to offer? On the one hand, the proximity to the Allgäu mountains. On the other hand, the short distances to Lake Constance with its Mediterranean flair. Both of these also benefit our treetop walk and Scheidegg. The border triangle of Germany, Austria and Switzerland promises pure relaxation. Bregenz can be reached in just ten minutes by car and Lindau is 20 minutes away.
